Hello, NM3223

Truly sad that this module is coming to an end… I guess I have learnt many things, mostly technical. When I developed my photographs that day, and finally received it from the lady at Grace Digital Lab, I was quite surprised by the emotions/thoughts that ran through me.

It was probably like a woman giving birth, going through labour and all. I felt something like that, ‘giving birth’ to my photographs. Excitedly received it from her, and looked through it.

Maybe my works are not as good as compared to others, but to me, those were my works, things I can call my own, and to me, to be able to walk through this journey of learning photography through practical means, was probably one of my most rewarding lessons I have in NUS thus far.

Thank you Ms Jing I am loving photography alot more now as compared to the time before I took NM3223.

Retook my texture as well as my colour as there were too blur and could not really convey the idea, and hence did not meet the requirements of the assignment.

Okay, for this assignment, I only retook my deep depth of field, as well as my freeze action I quite like T-Junction alot as many told me they did not know Singapore has such a location and got the impression that I took it in Aussie or sth Well now you do, I took it at Bukit Timah actually Rifle Lane!

Added more buildings, as well as new hand gestures to signify squeezing, also transformed some of the buildings more so that they look like they were pushing against one another more!

For these two photographs, I did not really do much except some Photoshop-ing to further portray the mood elements.

Singapore’s Seasons
I have chosen this theme to work around with mainly because everyone knows that Singapore, being near the equator, probably only has 2 seasons – the monsoon season, and the sunny one.

However, in actual fact, being Singaporeans, we probably know of other seasons subconsciously, such as the General Elections, much feared Examination season, the highly anticipated annual bonuses and Budget, the once-in-a-blue-moon high returns Toto draws and last but not least, the much feared Sars.
There are actually probably more seasons than those I have mentioned, but to me, these were the ones which left a rather lasting impression on me.

As per normal, set up my tripod, found a white wall in my house, dressed up, change clothes, but this time around, I decided to do without the rabbit as he was really stressed the other time when I was photographing with him. I guess I took really long and he was an impatient fellow. Anyway, I did tracing on my illustrations in Illustrator and added them onto my photos. I guess the idea/concept should be more straightforward now!

Well, being born in the year of the rabbit makes me a rabbit too. Anyway, my idea was to draw images of weather elements on each of the photograph to portray the weather as well as to highlight the constant reaction a rabbit would have in each weather as compared to the various reactions a human being would have.

It was a homemade studio environment, with cloth taped using masking tape to the ceiling and manual lighting and wind (for the Windy shot). Despite being really tough when taking the photos, having to run with the rabbit after pressing the self timer and posing properly and all, I enjoyed this shoot alot! Additionally, due to the AF function, and not having anything to focus on, the camera is unable to take, or would result in blur shots. Technical aside, I feel that my concept is still not anywhere there yet… and has to be improved more. But more or less, I am stuck to this theme of weather.

Just retook the photos for the final prototype, and currently in the editing stage, adding my new concept into the photos and am rather excited about the outcome!
